Lures and Legends of Lake of BaysThe Muskoka Lakes of Northern Ontario at the turn of the 19th century. AUTHORMary Lynn Findlay was born in Wabash, Indiana. She attended the University of Michigan, where she met Francis F. Findlay, a young law student. A year after graduation they were marrid and settled in Niagara Falls, N.Y. Mrs. Findlay has always been interested in the Arts. She is a sculptor, paints, does enamelling and ceramics, having exhibited in the Nation Ceramic Exhibition in Syracuse and the Albright Knox Gallery in Buffalo. This is her first literary effort. Having spent her summers for the past 50 years at Lake of Bays, she decided to write the history of the settlement of the Lake. The story of the Lake of Bays is very similar to that of many other areas in this North Country. The pattern of their early history is almost the same, with slight variations. To record this history it is hoped will be of interest to the many people who have come to this beautiful North Land. DETAILSPublisher: Herald-Gazette Press, 1973 |
